Question by *hola*: HiStOrY???

how did the english treat the africans during their 19th century colonization of africa???

Answer by Crash Jones
Like ignorant savages.

The English, like all Europeans, used their technology and trade items (not to mention opium and alcohol) to create an aura of superiority. If that didn't work, they used the strength of their military to intimidate and sometimes battle the Africans into submission.

Once in control, they subjugated the native peoples into hard labor in order to exploit any available natural resources, and paid them little to nothing for their work.

In all, it can easily be said that all European nations treated Africans with disdain and often cruelty.
